These four legendary fakemon are collectively known as the Elemental Dragons. Ampithere, Regaryu, Salamandra, and Verdenuck are incredibly rare and powerful Pokemon, and are considered to be the crown jewels of Dragon-type Pokemon. As a result, Dragon Tamers around the world seek out these four legendaries in the hopes of being named the best Dragon Tamer in the world. However, as of writing, nobody has yet encountered one.
Ampithere, the Storm Pokemon, draws inspiration from the Ampipthere, a mythical form of dragon. Ampithere largely resembles a draconic bird, with a pointy beak and avian feet. However, true to its nature as a dragon, Ampithere also possesses a long, reptilian tail and sharp fangs. Ampithere's body is decorated in lightning imagery, mainly with the large lightning-shaped parts of its wings. Ampithere is the fastest of the Elemental Dragons, and feeds on the electricity stored within thunder clouds. When approached, it attacks with lightning and then flies away.
Regaryu, the Messenger Pokemon, draws both visual and metatextual inspiration from the Oarfish, a species of ocean fish associated with dragons in Japanese myth. Regaryu's long, limbless body also brings to mind the legendary Sea Serpent, which has also been associated with dragons. Regaryu's main weapon is its mighty jaws, which resemble those of an angler fish. Regaryu rarely appears before humans, living at the bottom of the ocean. Sailors who have spotted Regaryu have nicknamed it "the dragon god of the seas."
Salamandra, the Caldera Pokemon, draws inspiration from the Salamander, a form of dragon. Salamandra draws inspiration more from modern interpretations of the Salamander, who is associated with fire. Salamandra physically resembles real-life lizards, such as the Komodo Dragon, though some liberties are taken. Salamandra is a lazy Pokemon who lives inside active volcanic craters. It feeds on the freshly erupted rocks and breaks it down within its body. Salamandra will absorb minerals within the rock, and then vomit it back up as magma, which can be seen dribbling down its chin. Salamandra is by far the easiest of the Elemental Dragons to locate, but approaching it is the tricky part - Salamandra will often lounge within banks of lava up to 10,000 degrees fahrenheit!
Verdenuck, the Swamp Pokemon, draws inspiration from the Knucker, a form of dragon. The Knucker is largely considered an aquatic dragon with a long, serpentine body. To bring the aquatic habitat and Grass-typing together, Verdenuck was made to be a swamp-dwelling Pokemon. Verdenuck feeds on the plants in the swamp, and forms potent toxins and anti-venoms as it digests the plant matter. Verdenuck is associated with the Poison-type, learning many Poison-type moves and having abilities centered around Poison.
Among all Dragon-type Pokemon, only one is spoken of with hushed reverence. This mighty Pokemon, nicknamed the Dragon Emperor, is the ultimate goal of any Dragon Tamer worth their salt. Imperion, the Dragon Pokemon, is the quartet master of the Elemental Dragons, and a true force to be reckoned with. Whereas the other Elemental Dragons are based off various forms of mythological dragons, Imperion takes a more simple approach and takes the form of a classic european dragon, albeit with six wings instead of two. Imperion itself was a Pokemon I came up with when I was quite young, and it's undergone a lot of changes since then. Originally, Imperion was a generic evil dragon, who resembled Altered Forme Giratina with red, hologram-like wings. Later, Imperion would become a Ground- and Dragon-type who resembled Black Kyurem. Now, Imperion rules as the most powerful Dragon-type of all (you know, not counting Rayquaza or Eternatus).
